March 23rd, 2010

Held at the picturesque Rosehill Gardens Racecourse this Saturday as part of the Rosehill Guineas race meeting, the $125, 000 Group 3 Cleanevent Birthday Card Stakes (1200m) has attracted a close to capacity field of 16 nominations this year.

Some truly classy fillies and mares are amongst the 2010 Brithday Card Stakes nominations including the Peter Snowden-trained Beaded

Some truly classy fillies and mares are amongst the 2010 Birthday Card Stakes nominations including Peter Snowden’s four-year-old Lonhro mare Beaded who has won seven of her nine race starts.

Beaded is the highest rated nominee and will be the one to beat if she runs on Saturday.

Snowden has also nominated another one of his consistent mares and half-sister to Beaded, Renaissance.

David Payne has his improving Charge Forward filly Prerequisite nominated for the Birthday Card Stakes. The three-year-old ran a gallant fourth in the Light Fingers Stakes two starts back but then finished a lacklustre sixth in the Surround Stakes last start.

Triscay Stakes winner Patronyme is another Birthday Card Stakes nominee looking to improve on their disappointing last start as the Joseph Pride-trained More Than Ready mare finished dead last in the Wiggle at Warwick Farm in their most recent race.

Other talented hopefuls include three females from local Rosehill-based trainer Gerald Ryan, Beaucoup, Melito and last start winner Mysterious Light.

Other feature races to be held at Rosehill on Saturday include the esteemed Group 1 Rosehill Guineas and the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes featuring some of the country’s most promising young fillies.
