2011 Birthday Card Stakes Final Field & Betting Tips

March 24th, 2011

The 2011 Birthday Card Stakes is due to run at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday March 26 as one of the black-type features on the Rosehill Guineas Day programme and here you will find the final field, barrier draw and top betting tips for the fillies and mares feature.

Set to take place as Rosehill Race 9 on Saturday at 5:30pm (AEDST), the $125,000 Group 3 Birthday Card Stakes (1200m) has drawn a field of 14 acceptors lead by Gai Waterhouse’s upcoming horse racing champion Kiss From A Rose.

Winner of the Listed Triscay Stakes over this track and distance on February 19, Encosta De Lago mare Kiss From A Rose most recently finished third to Jersey Lily in the Listed Wiggle Quality (1400m) at Warwick Farm on March 5.

She over-raced early last start but if the tempo suits on Saturday, Kiss From A Rose can return to the winners stall in the Birthday Card Stakes and Luxbet have her as the $4.80 favourite to do just that.

This is still a very nice price on the favourite and our tip is to stick with Kiss From A Rose to become the Birthday Card Stakes winner.

Rosehill Race 9 Betting Tips & Predicted Birthday Card Stakes Result

1st: #3 Kiss From A Rose ($4.80 Luxbet)

2nd: #2 Trim ($11 Luxbet)

3rd: #1 Dorf Command ($12 Luxbet)

4th: #4 Bacchanal Woman ($15 Luxbet)

To run second behind the favourite in the Birthday Card Stakes our pick is the Peter Snowden-trained Trim, the $11 outsider coming off a game third in the Listed Wenona Girl Handicap (1200m) at Warwick Farm beaten less than half a length by Ofcourseican and Flying Success.

Trim should be back to her best over 1200m on Saturday and if there’s rain around she can really perform well.

Other horses in the market for this year’s Birthday Card Stakes include Wenona Girl Handicap winner Ofcourseican ($8) and Lonhro four-year-old Jerezana ($9).

However, with these runners drawn poorly in barriers 15 and 13 respectively, it is Dorf Command and Bacchanal Woman that we are including in our Box Trifecta and First Four selections through Luxbet on Saturday.

Dorf Command was impressive against open company in a Listed sprint on a heavy track at Rosehill last Saturday and back against her own company should be competitive.

Joseph Pride’s Bacchanal Woman is drawn well in barrier six and coming off a close second to Lebrechaun in the Listed Nation Sprint at Canberra and she has two wins at Rosehill to consider.
